Indonesian Coffee Exports Reach US$842 Million in 2021

Coffee from Indonesia is one of the most famous in the world. No doubt, Indonesia exports a lot of these commodities abroad. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that coffee exports from Indonesia reached US$842.52 million with a volume of 380,173 tons in 2021.

This number increased compared to the previous year’s US$809.16 million with a volume of 375,555 tons. Seeing the trend from 2011-2021, Indonesia’s coffee exports fluctuated. Indonesia’s coffee exports rose to their highest level of US$1.24 billion in 2012. However, the value of coffee exports from Indonesia continued to decline until it reached its lowest level of US$806.88 million in 2018. Indonesian coffee exports had increased to US$872, 36 million in the following year.

However, the export value of these commodities declined again to US$ 809.16 million in 2020. Indonesia’s coffee exports only increased again last year. Meanwhile, most coffee exports went to the United States worth US $ 194.76 million with a volume of 57,694 tons. After that, there is Egypt with a value of US$ 89.08 million and a volume of 48,521 tons. Then, Indonesia’s coffee exports to Japan were valued at US$61.89 million with a volume of 25,136 tons.

Meanwhile, domestic coffee exports to Spain amounted to US$57.54 million with a volume of 33,041 tons. For the record, the export of coffee used in this data is only based on postal rates (HS) 09011110 and 090111190. The HS is only for coffee that is not roasted and without decaffeination.
